Breath To Unleash : Pranayama

12:30:00 PM

The practice of vinyasa yoga is broadly spread in our western culture, the link between breath and movement or better said asanas in movement. Recently I was taking a class in Santa Monica and a teacher tag me if I was a diver, because I was holding my Warrior I ( Virabhadrasana I )longer than anyone in the class, at the same time I was back bending with my hands in Anjali Mudra looking to the back of the room ....well, dear teacher, the only thing I can think about you is that you have no much practice of pranayama or breath control. "Prana" is Breath or vital energy in the body. On subtle levels, prana represents the pranic energy responsible for life or life force, and "ayama" means control. So Pranayama is "Control of Breath". When you learn practices that unlock this power, you will start to release all that old stuff that’s holding you back so you can dive into your full potential for creativity and joy. Which my answer to that teacher is: yes I am a diver in so many different ways. I have under my belt some of the most beautiful spots on earth where I have dive like the Red Sea, Gili Islands, Corn Islands, Thailand among others ...but I am also a diver on my conscious awakening through different techniques, where pranayama is one of them. The act of paying attention to your breathing is in itself a healing act, we live to overwhelm and never finding the time to listen to ourselves, the moment you start listening to your own breath and seeing the effect that has in your entire body is when you start gaining the bliss of being alive
